City Road, Creative Agency

Our successful pitch was won by experience delivering hospitality as well offices spaces, but essentially by our empathy for this particular company, their unique space and brief.

Working hand in hand with client and contractor we have transformed the ‘town hall’ of this creative agency for the post-pandemic workplace.

Upholstery and acoustic cubes are used to both soften ambient sound and to animate the space. Used in a painterly way, these sculptural elements result in an atmosphere that looks intriguing while inherently feels relaxed and welcoming. Conducive to both good conversation and to mindful work.

We designed varied bespoke seating and desks that provide for focused working, informal meeting, breakout or just casual hanging out and bumping into others.

Both the arrangement of the space and its aesthetic are carefully considered to encourage and support visitors to feel comfortable enough to enjoy working in the space individually and to collaborate on great ideas together. Offering the potential for versatile uses ranging from agile working to teleconference calls, to water cooler moments, community events like cake sales, or evening parties.

The central coffee bar is self-service and is imagined as a theatre-in-the-round. The layout considers what is both comfortable everyday and a dramatic setting for brushing shoulders and exchanging conversation with colleagues in a relaxed yet stimulating space.

We were inspired by the values of the company and their brief to make the space a destination and we imagined the excitement of arrival as if at a theatrical or sporting event, or even a private members’ club. Being so, the new upholstered reception desk with a ring of lighting above, is considered as a if a box office or a check-in, or an arena in itself — a destination unsaid.
